Celebrities who blog
Jamie Oliver is that sexy, slightly rumpled British chef with the crooked teeth and messy hair you might catch on TV late at night. His Naked Chef show first became popular several years ago, and he started his blog to keep his viewers in touch with his recipes, books, and television programs. He updates a few times a month, most lately to tell everyone what he is doing with Oprah Winfrey. Oprah is the queen of the world, blah blah blah, and Jamie Oliver is working with her to make the world a better place. Blah. Read all about it at www.jamieoliver.com. It’s truly a shame that Lisa Whelchel seems to have abandoned her blog, cleverly named Coffee Talk (www.lisawhelchel.com/journal). Whelchel, best known to many children of the eighties as Blair Warner on The Facts of Life, is now a bible-thumping, scrap-booking, home-schooling mom of three. She is also a NUT. She recommends disciplining naughty kids by forcing them to wear ankle weights around the house for a day, or washing their mouths not with soap, but with Tabasco sauce. She has not posted a blog entry since last summer, but she may simply be on a holy pilgrimage somewhere. Her blog is hilarious, in a sort of freak-show way. After full perusal of the blog archives, I am ready to end my decades-old girly crush on Ms. Blair Warner. Now I can put all my focus and attention on Tootie. One blog that I cannot read for more than an entry or two without laughing out loud and/or feeling my jaw drop to the floor is Margaret Cho’s. Margaret is an outspoken Korean comedienne, with strong views on animal rights and gay/lesbian/bi/transgender rights. Her live performances are a scream, and so is her blog. I find her fascinating because she used to date Quentin Tarantino, and frankly, I am a little jealous. If you want to learn more about her, her pets, her tattoos, and life in LA, visit www.margaretcho.com/blog. If you like Moby (and who doesn’t, right?), you’ll want to read his blog at www.moby.com/journal. Moby drives me slightly crazy because he doesn’t capitalize anything, nor does he use proper punctuation in his blog entries. But it is his blog, and he can do what he wants. I just wish he would post a link to his cover of Mission of Burma’s “That’s When I Reach for My Revolver,” one of my all-time favorites. Hey, did you know Moby was nicknamed Moby by his parents, after the novel Moby Dick? It’s true; his great-great-great uncle was Herman Melville. You can find out all sorts of cool stuff on blogs! And then there’s Rosie O’Donnell. Now, most people either love Rosie or hate Rosie, but I find her to be only semi-loathsome. She’s had a magazine, a TV show, a Broadway musical starring Boy George, a family cruise, and now she’s got a blog. O’Donnell has been blogging since 2004, and updates just about every day. Many of her more recent posts are videos of herself talking all sorts of nonsense, and she definitely seems to be a bit on the looney side. I’m not quite sure how she was allowed to adopt actual human children, but maybe if I keep reading I’ll find out someday. Read it yourself at www.rosie.com/blog. There’s another Rosie out there, and this one is just as crazy as the first. Rosanne Barr, actress and author, blogs at www.roseanneworld.com/blog. Roseanne likes Hillary Clinton and hates Oprah Winfrey. She also claims to be psychic, and to suffer from both multiple personality disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder. And she is most certainly drunk while she types her entries. This blog is pure gold, people! More celebrities (B- or C-list, mostly) with blogs: Tennis star Anna Kournikova posts at www.kournikova.com/journal. My husband has the hots for her, and I hate her very much. Donald Trump and his enormous hairdo offer real estate and business advice at www.trumpuniversity.com/blog. Indie actor/screenwriter Kevin Smith writes about playing poker and selling stuff on eBay at his blog My Boring-Ass Life at silentbobspeaks.com. Paris Hilton shows off her giant feet, wonky eye, and more at www.myspace.com/parishilton. Actor and professional pain-in-the-ass Tom Green annoys the masses at www.tomgreen.com/blog. I’m sure somewhere, Drew Barrymore (his ex-wife) is laughing at him, not with him. Jennifer Wutz-Lopes wishes Quentin Tarantino would start a blog. She lives in Lockport with her husband and son, and blogs at Jen14221.com SUBSCRIBE NOW Back to the Table of Contents Back to Top |
